This National Park is located between the Central and Southern Pacific Coast. It is the smallest park in the country and the most admired, for its awesome scenic views, and its wonderful biodiversity. The weather tropical rainforest assures the green tones you could see all around on its pretty lush vegetation. The dry season is December through March.
Manuel Antonio is the perfect place to spend a nice day, enjoining the beach and sun, after a good hiking at Cathedral Point, with its green forest, topped cliffs; it was once an island, but is now connected to the Continental land by a thin a geomorphological land strip called Tombolo, you can relax lying down under the shade of the tropical trees (but coconut trees). Being watched; by the curious white faced capuchin monkeys, or swimming on the beach. Even when this is an incredible small territory, provides shelter to 3 different species of monkeys, two sloth species, agouties, raccoons, coatis, many birds, iguanas, colorful and hermit crabs, caimans, egrets, pelicans, parrots, snakes, insects, Jesus Christ lizards, spiders tree frogs, and many more animals.
Considered, the third most beautiful national park in the World, and the most complete because its biodiversity. The Park was founded on November 15th 1972. An area of 1983 ha land and 55210 ha the marine part. The highest peak is 160 m above sea level. When water is clear there’s a good chance to observe beautiful coral reef fish, more than 50 different fish species.
To get there we got to drive, through the Coastal highway 34. On the way we may see so many interesting things, mango fields, and crocks from a bridge, Scarlet macaws, part of the Carara National Park, fishing villages, surfing towns, watermelon and rice fields, African oil palm plantations, mangrove forest; arriving to Quepos town, at there you can go to a nice local restaurant either way in Manuel Antonio, to enjoy the local Costa Rican food and a cold drink. Then let’s go for a walk around the place to stretch our legs. The trails in Manuel Antonio are very well demarcated or marked; the condition of those may vary from one to the next. It is important to know our physical conditions to assure an optimal performance within the Park some parts of then till 20% of gradient, the beaches are unbelievable, especially Manuel Antonio beach, which is almost without waves, and its water is sometimes 28 degrees Celsius (82.4 Fahrenheit).
